Many times a software provider will offer a title as freeware for testing purposes and feedback. After they have perfected a package they will no longer offer it as freeware. In almost every case, freeware sites will simply link to the provider's site at the software location. When this changes, they either offer it to you as shareware, or delete it from their site. Such is not the case here. After we test the product we upload it to our own server. (This, unless the provider does not allow us to do so). Then, if a new version of the product is offered, we download the new version and re-test it from scratch. If it is found that the new version has become shareware, we continue to offer the older, freeware, version as long as the provider will allow it. With the exception of one instance, no provider has ever asked us to remove a title from our system. Of course, if they do ask us to remove a given title, we cooperate immediately.

Also, there are times where the provider goes out of business. Since most of our software is stored locally, we can continue to offer these titles to you forever, when most other freeware sites must delete them. As far as we have been able to determine thus far, this makes Absolutely Freeware unique on the web at this time.
